When you really think about it

A great deal of things happen in a year.

One whole rotation around the sun

Giving us

Winter Spring Summer and Fall.

People change and grow

Just like plants reaching for the sun

Trying new things

Jumping out of planes

Trying new food.

But also people lose.

We lose jobs cars and

Each other

Even when we don’t want to.

Like a baby bird jumping from the nest for the first time

Thinking there will be a splat but at the last second

We spread our wings and fly.
